Photo contest focuses on rights of children

Balanga, Bataan (1 October) -- The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) announces the holding of a photo contest on the theme - "Bright Child: Karapatan nasa 'yo, isigaw sa buong mundo".

The contest is open to all Filipino amateur and professional photographers, except CWC officials and their staff as well as CWC Communication Committee members and their relatives.

Entries should reflect Filipino children as they enjoy their right to a family; rights to survival, development participation and protection.

Previously published photos or those that have won in any national or international contest are disqualified.

The following are the guidelines for interested parties:
# Entries should be on photo paper, 8"x10", inkjet printouts are not allowed. Borders are optional, not to exceed one inch on any side;
# Film or digital camera output on photo paper should be processed by photo labs only; Alterations after exposure, digital darkroom, painting, airbrushing, paste on or assembly are not allowed;
# No infrared; only normal dark room techniques like dodging, burning in and cropping are allowed;
# Only photos taken in 2007 could be submitted to the contest. Each entry must be accompanied with a duly accomplished entry information sheet (to be provided by the CWC and also available on-line at www.cwc.gov.ph.

The information sheet should contain: full name of the photographer, age and sex, complete mailing address, telephone or fax number, tax identification number (TIN) or community tax certificate (CTC).

For children-participants, the CTC or TIN of parents should be included.

Entries should be received on or before October 15, 2007 by the CWC Public Affairs and Information Office (PAIO) located at #10, Apo St., Sta. Mesa Heights, Quezon City, 1114 or by the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. at Room 302 FEMI Bldg. (Annex), A. Soriano Avenue, Intramuros, Manila, 1002.

Entries will also be received in SM Malls on or before October 12, 2007.

Judging of entries has been set October 18 while awarding will be held October 26 at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Prizes at stake are: P30,000; P20,000 and P10,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. Consolation prizes will be given to the 4th to 10th places, while the top 30 entries will be given certificates of recognition.

The top 30 entries and other selected photos will be exhibited in SM Malls in observance of Children's Month this October. (PIA-Bataan)
